Governor Mary Fallin to join Tulsa women in an effort to raise funds for the 11th Tulsa Habitat Women Build!
Yvonne Hovell of Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Tulsa is celebrating 25 years of business in Tulsa this year. In celebration of this wonderful milestone, Ms. Hovell wanted to do something significant to give back to the community. Ms. Hovell decided to challenge women in Tulsa, business leaders, community leaders and volunteers to help give a family in Tulsa the opportunity to own a home through Tulsa Habitat for Humanity. Not just any home though—a home built almost entirely by women! This will be the 11th women build home in Tulsa.
Governor Mary Fallin, being the first women governor of Oklahoma is a natural fit to be a part of this celebration. In 1999, Cathy Keating, then First lady of Oklahoma, participated in a Women Build in central Oklahoma. In 2006, Mayor Kathy Taylor, First Lady Kim Henry and Yvonne Hovell all participated in a Tulsa Women Build. They are coming together again to raise funds for the 11th Tulsa Women Build, to promote volunteering on the Women Build home and to raise awareness of the need for decent, affordable homes for families in our community.

Press Release:
Savoy Family receives Keys to new home Saturday!
Dedication Ceremony at 10:30 a.m, Saturday, June 4
The Parish of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux and Tulsa Habitat for Humanity are excited to hand Gwendolyn Savoy the keys to her new home! For the past 10 weekends volunteers from St. Bernard’s and the Savoy family have been hard at work building this new home. This is the 12th Family since 1997 that the Parish of St. Bernard of Clairvaux has helped by sponsoring and building their new home.
This home will be built in memory of Stephen Campbell, long time Habitat volunteer and son of Deacon Richard Campbell, Justice and Peace Coordinator of Saint Bernard’s Parish and his wife, Caroline.
On Saturday, Ms. Savoy will be given her keys, will have a zero-interest mortgage that she will repay over the next 30 years and will finally have a home for her family.
“For a church to build sponsor and build 12 homes locally shows their huge heart for helping people in need and their dedication to our Tulsa community. St. Bernard’s Church models the heart of Christ in a way that speaks volumes,” notes Tulsa Habitat Executive Director Paul Kent.
Four Year Old Terrence Williams cannot wait until Saturday!
Terrence and his mom, Kiva McFadden, along with volunteers from Newfield Exploration will be Raising the Wall on their new home Saturday morning! In about 12 weeks, their new home will be complete and they will become homeowners for the first time!
This is the beginning of the final stage of the habitat Partner Family Education Program. Ms. McFadden has completed 450 of her 500 “Sweat Equity” hours and will complete the final 50 on her own home. “I am confident moving into my own home because of everything I have learned in the (Habitat Education) program”, Ms. McFadden said. “I cannot wait!”
Tulsa Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce that Newfield Exploration will be partnering with us for the 5th time. Newfield’s investment in our community should not go unnoticed. Newfield employees will be volunteering their time to build this home and the company has invested monies to help pay for the building materials.
